Job Description

The Department of Psychology of the University of Basel, Switzerland (Center for Economic Psychology), is seeking applicants for a 3-year Ph.D. position. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work towards a Ph.D. in Psychology within the project “Comparing perceptual and preferential decision making” that is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (Schweizerischer Nationalfonds, SNF). The project will investigate the differences and similarities between the cognitive processes that underlie perceptual vs. preferential decision-making. The ideal candidate holds a M.Sc. in psychology, cognitive science, or a related field, has solid knowledge in cognitive psychology and research methods and aspires to a scientific career. Experience with mathematical modeling and programming is desirable. The PhD student will have the opportunity to focus entirely on doing scientific research and on writing the doctoral thesis under the supervision of the principal investigator. Applicants will be part of an international workgroup and an English-speaking environment. The salary will be about 43,000 Swiss Francs (approx. 30,000 Euro).
