LEHIGH UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in quantitative psychology with a research focus in health, to be a joint appointment between the Department of Psychology and the Program in Health, Medicine, and Society (HMS). This is one of three newly created positions intended to build on existing strengths in the area of Community Health; the other positions are a social epidemiologist (who will be appointed in Sociology and HMS), and an expert in Community Based Participatory Research to be hired in the College of Education. This “cluster” of positions spans the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Education and is focused on Community-Based Participatory Research. The new hires will form a sophisticated, methodologically focused core in Community Health that cuts across four areas of current expertise at Lehigh--global health, environmental health, mental health, and school-based interventions--and will enhance current collaborations to improve the health of communities in the Lehigh Valley, PA region and in similar-sized communities across the U.S. and globally.
The Community Health cluster group, the Health, Medicine, and Society Program, and the Psychology Department invite applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in quantitative psychology with a research focus on health, effective Fall 2014. We seek individuals with a Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field) who are trained in statistical theory and methods, with particular expertise in working with large data sets dealing with health-related issues. The successful candidate will be a faculty member in the Psychology Department with a joint appointment in the Health, Medicine, and Society interdisciplinary program; hiring and evaluation will be coordinated with these two units.
Potential areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: measurement and psychometrics; multivariate methods; causal modeling; assessment and evaluation of interventions; mixed methods (i.e., qualitative and quantitative) research; newer developing methods for analysis. In addition to having strong quantitative expertise, the ideal candidate will have a substantive program of research that integrates with at least one of the three core areas of the Psychology department: cognitive, social, or developmental.

Candidates must have the Ph.D. completed by the starting date of August 2014 and show significant evidence of research productivity and effective teaching experience. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous research program that will attract external funding and contribute to the Psychology Department's undergraduate and Ph.D. programs, to the HMS program, as well as to other areas of the University’s Health Care Initiative. This individual will offer courses in quantitative methods and community research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels for Psychology and Health.
