The Society for Mathematical Psychology promotes the advancement and communication of research in mathematical psychology and related disciplines. Mathematical psychology is broadly defined to include work of a theoretical character that uses mathematical methods, formal logic, or computer simulation. The Society journal is the Journal of Mathematical Psychology.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cognitive Modeling

The Laboratory for Mathematical Psychology at Indiana University seeks a postdoctoral researcher in cognitive modeling and experimental psychology. The resident workplace is in Bloomington, Indiana.

 

Responsibilities
A major duty is assisting Dr. James T. Townsend in fulfilling research outlined in one of two research grants. Duties also include overseeing graduate students, undergraduate RAs, and technical assistants; planning and carrying out experiments; data analysis; model testing; and preparing manuscripts for publication.

 

Qualifications
Ph.D. in a relevant field of research; background in cognitive modeling and experimental psychology; demonstrated scientific expertise, with publications in refereed journals; extensive experience in experimental design and development; ability to create quantitative models of cognitive processing; solid programming skills, preferably with R, MATLAB, and Python; experience writing grants and manuscripts; ability to work and lead in a team environment; ability to work independently on designated projects; demonstrated interpersonal skills.

 

Additional Information
The position begins in the fall 2015 and is a one-year appointment; renewal for a second year is contingent on availability of funds, satisfactory performance, acceptable progress in carrying out the assigned duties, and mutual agreement. This is a 100% appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience.
