Looking for a change of scenery?

Are you 5-15 years out of your PhD, interested in a 4-year research-only position and then a continuing position in Australia?

Over a five-year period (2009 -2013), ARC Future Fellowships will offer four-year fellowships of up to AU$140,000 a year to 1,000 outstanding Australian and international researchers in the middle of their careers. In addition, each researcher's Administering Organisation will receive funding of up to AU$50,000 per year to support related infrastructure, equipment, travel and relocation costs.
See http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/futurefel/future_default.htm for more details.

Applicants will usually need to gain the support of a particular Australian university, and different universities have different arrangements in terms of conditions on offering a permanent position after the 4 years of research. Please contact Scott Brown (scott.brown at newcastle.edu.au) or Andrew Heathcote (andrew.heathcote at newcastle.edu.au) to follow up this opportunity at the University of Newcastle. (We are happy to also help facilitate contact with other universities.)  For Newcastle, the process of assessing candidates for this year's round is underway now so please contact us ASAP if you are interested.
